BOARD MEMBER // MELANIE RICHARDSON

I am a lifetime resident of Anson County, currently living in Peachland with my husband, J.B., for 20+ years. Our children are now grown with families (2 sons, 1 daughter & 5 grandchildren), so our pets Maverick (Miniature Schnauzer) and Tiny (cat) graciously allow us to share their home.

As a child, hunting and fishing were not only a part of our lives, but also a way of life.  For that, I will always be grateful.  Not only did it provide food for our table, but it also taught me how to enjoy and appreciate the world around me, to see the beauty and hear the silence.  It also taught me patience (have you ever watched a red and white cork just sitting on top of the water?). All of these, lessons that last a lifetime.

I cherish every memory made with loved ones and the excitement of starting new stories with new friends. Helping others has always come naturally to me, and I don’t know (or care to know) how to NOT do that. HOAS does so much for so many and I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with the great individuals that keep this organization going and provide others with opportunities they possibly would never have otherwise.
